Okay, looks like I've been web-tagged. I'm it. Oh baby, I am IT!!!. sheesh... okay, the item du jour is Top Ten Favorite Books.
I have a TON of books sitting boxed in my garage, the majority of which are philosophy and college English Lit faves that I just could NOT part with, and I've lugged them around for well near 20 years. But I have plenty to pick from that aren't of that ilk, so here goes. The list in no particular order and not edited by Judith Regan:
1. 1984 - George Orwell. Ooh, forward by Walter Cronkite.
2. Catch-22, Joseph Heller. I read this one at least every two years.
3. Slaughterhouse-Five, Kurt Vonnegut. I like anything by Vonnegut, really. This one is so old, every time I open it the acidy old paper makes me sneeze. Good times.
4. Guitar Player Repair Guide, Dan Erlewine. Pretty much the bible of guitar repair and maintenance.
5. Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, Robert M. Persig.
6. Billy and the Boingers Bootleg - Bloom County, Berkeley Breathed. I always wanted to play backup tongue with the Boingers.
7. The Outsiders, S.E. Hinton. I first read it in 8th grade, before Hollywood got their grubbies on it.
8. The Big Sleep, Raymond Chandler. I dig his style, the power of his characters, the era. Anything by Chandler is okay by me.
9. The Norton Anthology of English Literature, 1 and 2. Forced to buy them in college, and found some amazing work in there. Keepers. I reference them occasionally when I need inspiration.
10. Euthyphro, Plato. That book got me into reading all other writings by *cough* "Plato"... *wink, wink*.
Well, there you have it. These are favorites and must haves, mostly. I still use 'em. They are guaranteed entertainment... and they provide well-needed reference ammo when I get into an argument. Usually.
Okay, so now I have to tag someone. It is going to Miss Cellania.
Thanks a *bunch* to Carl at Simply Left Behind and Jacq at Mayhem in The House Of Jacq. Go visit them and tell them Targa sent you. They'll leave a light on for you.

Those were pretty cool.
The Outsiders. Read it. I know. I'm a dork. Damn Proud of it.
I have quite a few of my college books left over, too. Loved Shakespeare and anything by Plato. Also stuff edited by Judith Regan. ha ha
I think I already tagged Miss Cellania. We're all IT. Ha! Started by little ol me.
BWAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!!
Welcome to the wonderful world of blogging!
Euthyphro. Damn. And I thought *my* list was deliberately pretentious!
Heh heh...What...you're not buying it?
Okay, okay, I only have the Billy & the Boingers. It's in my bathroom. I read it everyday.
I really am a philosphy buff, though. I wrote a piece about the similarities between Socrates and the mythical Jesus. Good stuff. Pissed people off. Good times....
good times.
Hmm... After reading your list I may have to expand my own. There are at least five of yours I need to add to mine. Forgot all about The Outsiders and 1984. Good job!
uh, excuse the second consecutive comment, but I forgot to add - Ponyboy Lives !!
Ah, Targa, thanks for considering me, but I did the book meme a couple of months ago. I even sold some books!
I've read six on your list.
Merry Christmas, Targa.
